One Minute Vacations: Red-Winged Blackbirds

Filed under: One Minute Vacations — Laura Moncur @ 10:00 am

The red-winged blackbirds on Oquirrh Lake were out and tweeting happily, so I took a minute and filmed it so you could enjoy them as well. You can see it here:

I love my morning walks on Oquirrh Lake and I would sincerely miss them if I moved away. Whenever I’m feeling trapped while I’m working, I pull up these little videos and they make me feel connected to the earth somehow, despite being sequestered in a building of wood and masonite.

One Minute Vacations: Oquirrh Lake in Spring

Filed under: One Minute Vacations — Laura Moncur @ 10:00 am

The other day was so beautiful outside that I spent an extra few minutes filming a snatch of it for you. Here is one minute of Oquirrh Lake in the spring.

The next time you are feeling trapped at work, take one minute and enjoy the clucking of the ducks, the squawks of the seagulls and the trills of the red-winged black birds.

One Minute Vacations: The Babbling Brook

Filed under: One Minute Vacations — Laura Moncur @ 10:00 am

This lovely animated GIF of a babbling brook was created by Head Like an Orange using footage from the BBC’s Wonders of Life series.

Babbling Brook One Minute Vacation from Starling Travel

I love to just watch the water flow in this image. I can imagine the sound of the water in my mind and can smell the algae accumulating at the edges of the brook. The sunlight is glinting off the water and blinding me with tiny burn marks on my eyes. I want to walk through the water, but it is so cold that my toes protest.

The next time you need a break from work, come to these crystal clear waters and spend a minute at this babbling brook.

There is so much awesome going on in this photo from URTrekking, that you really have to click through to the full-sized image to fully enjoy it.

SpringBar Tent from URTrekking at Starling Travel

From the canoe to the SpringBar tent, this photo is like stepping into a camping trip. It was taken in Marion, Pennsylvania, probably at Bald Eagle State Park. I can just imagine them canoeing on Foster Joseph Sayers Lake.

The next time you are feeling trapped at work, take a moment and really let yourself step into this photograph. Take a deep breath and smell the damp air blowing off the lake. Relax in the chairs or take a nap in the tent. After just a few minutes imagining yourself into this photo, you’ll feel refreshed and ready to tackle the day anew!

One Minute Vacation: Camping in Pike National Forest Colorado

Filed under: One Minute Vacations — Laura Moncur @ 10:17 am

This short little video is so relaxing that for a second, I felt as if I were in Colorado, instead of a state away.

Camping in Pike National Forest Colorado from Starling TravelIt looks best when it’s full screen, so click on over to YouTube and enjoy it there:

It’s so idyllic and beautiful that it feels like a Bob Ross painting come alive. Many times, I hate vertical videos, but this one is framed so perfectly that I can’t argue with the form factor.

If you are trapped in the office, wishing you could be in the great outdoors right now, watch this video and take a deep breath, imagining that you are right there, at the bank of the cold stream and in the shade of that perfect mountain.

One Minute Vacation: Clover in the Wind

Filed under: Hiking,One Minute Vacations,Oregon,Places To Visit — Laura Moncur @ 12:05 pm

I loved this moment while hiking on the Wildwood Trail in Welches, Oregon.

Those little clover leaves taste like sour apples if you bite them. I don’t go around biting flora, but a local said mentioned it to me, so we tried them.

If you are feeling stressed at work, take a One Minute Vacation and watch the clover in the wind.
